Naked

No one told me!

I’d never heard. No one told me.

Nobody told me of the danger, the vulnerability.

In my endeavour to rid my mind of these invasive thoughts, I spill them on paper, only to be confronted by truths I myself had failed to hear in my own mind.

Although oblivion isn’t always blissful, I was never ready to be confronted by a rainbow of colours when I was comfortable with just seeing yellow and blue.

No one told me.

I’d never heard.

Maybe if I’d heard, I’d have left the pens on the shelves, to see if they’d write for themselves.

Or would I have still insisted on thinking for the ink, and not think for myself?

But still. I’d never heard.

No one told me.

naked

Nobody told me that my own poetry would leave me exposed, feeling naked.
