Abuse Victims

Rape. One of the cruelest ways to kill a human soul while the body lives on, with the scars that never heal and the pain that will always linger. The cold memories the victim has to endure, for years on end.

I’ve always heard and known how rape victims have a really difficult time moving past the trauma and what they needed the most was a man who’d understand her scars and be willing to work hard to diminish all her fears.

We always hear the victims version of the stories. I came across an article on the Elite Daily, titled These Tweets Reveal The Heartbreaking Reality Of Dating A Rape Survivor. It broke my heart. Below, are the tweets in their chronological order.

The rapist was found and sentenced. Though justice was served, the victims still live with the gaping wounds he inflicted.

My heart goes out to every woman and man who has been abused at one point or another in their life. Be it sexual, physical, psychological or otherwise. And to all those who have either lost their lives or had their lives taken, someone out there still mourns their loss.

Psalms 23:4, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalms 86:17, “Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

Psalms 119:76, “May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.”

Psalms 9:9, “The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”

Psalms 119:50, “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.”

May the God of peace and love be with you. Amen.

  1. Heart wrenching post. This story is horrifying, but unfortunately, not uncommon. My heart goes out to these people and all other survivors and their loved ones. We tend to focus on the impact rape has on the survivor (for a good reason of course), but it is true that it completely changes the lives of their friends/family as well. Thank you for posting this. Wish you all the best – speak766

  2. “What they needed the most was a man who’d understand her scars and be willing to work hard to diminish all her fears.”?What!? No. What they need the most is time and healing and support. They “need a man”, seriously?
