What type of person are you?
When you have, say, a favorite shirt: do you wear it often cause you like it or do you not wear it often cause you like it?
Clothes I would wear and wear until they fall apart – shirts and Levis. With books it’s different. Sometimes I’ll watch a book for months, years even before reading it, even though I really want to. I’m a pleasure delayer – you known what I mean?
How about you – do you keep your favourite things wrapped in tissue or do you wrap them around your body?
Haha and I’m the opposite when it comes to books. I will read it time and again, simply cause I like it so much!
Clothes, because I like the piece, I’ll keep it for days that feel different or when I want to feel “pretty” 😅😁
Actually, that sounds very sensible. Fancy Pants for fancy days and Home Pants for wearing at home. 🙂
I find it difficult to read books twice – even very good ones.
So, how you bearing up – so far from home?
I suppose you could say that I’m far from home in that I’m 60 miles away from the town I grew up in, but at the same time – this is also home. I’ve been to plenty places in the world but never stayed out of the country for more than three weeks at a time. Nothing like as brave as you seem to be to me. You must find it easy to make and keep friends, yes?
Oh, that’s not bad at all. Would you consider living outside of the UK for a longer period?
I can’t say I have trouble making friends, but I keep a tight circle of friends. Also, being away shows you so your real friends are, the keepers. Then I make acquaintances around me, just to make sure I don’t speak to myself too much for too long 😅
Love the way you put that – having people around you so that you don’t speak to yourself for too long. 🙂
I think I get the sense (and it’s a character flaw I know) that I’m waiting for life to happen to me. Similarly I’m waiting for living in another country to happen to me. I’m also waiting for the editing of my novels to happen to me, the putting together of my Writing Tips book to happen to me and for life, generally, to happen to me. Boy do I need a kick up the pants to happen to me!
Lol I’m sure if the latter happened, the excruciating pain would be just what you need to get things rolling. But I hear the bit about it being a character flaw. I worry (and fear) about my passiveness at times… You have novels penned down? Awesome! While I wait for my first arranged writing to happen to me 😅
One and three quarter novels, yes. They just happened to me. 😉 You don’t seem passive at all. In fact, you seem scarily pro-active to me. I mean – travelling across the world to love in another country – that takes real balls (or whatever the equivalent for females is)!
Haha yes, balls, they are just in a different places and are bigger haha
I guess, if you put it like that. But at the time, it wasn’t really a matter of choice (in as much as I chose to come). My love for travel and cultures influenced my decision too, and a few other things. Oddly, I can’t even imagine what my life would have been like if I’d chosen to stay back.
Oh, one complete one and another in the pipeline. They are stand alones or you’re aiming for a series?
My novels are stand-alones. It was scary enough going from short stories to novels and so the jump from novels to a series is something that kinda terrifies me. 🙂
Your alternate lives (living at home / being born as a boy / being married) make wonderful material for novels.
And as for the size thang – you sound very sure of that. 😀
So you’ve basically been writing for a while, first short stories, and then a novel. Been published yet? May I ask just how old you are,
Hahaha “alternative lives” makes my life sound like an adventure 😀
Self published a short story on Amazon – just to see how easy the process was (very easy). The rest of it is about procrastination. My year of birth has been on my ‘About’ page since I started the blog on April Fool’s day this year. 🙂
And yes – for sure it’s an adventure!!
I’m in love.
